The Quad: DRX 90 (Official Mini Quad of the NTMX)

What do we think of it? Awesome!
What does the rider think of it? She loves it.
Erin said she would never race anything except for her TRX 90, that was before she got just one lap in on the DRX. With less than 1 hr. Seat time on this quad, Erin for the first time, pulled a hole shot, and lead the race to the end, getting faster every lap, and never looking back.

First take:
Opening the crate we were very happy to see razor MX tires on the front. Dad was very happy to find all the bolts tightened and lock tightened from factory (we still recommend going over any bike that you order in the crate). The quad was together in about 1 1/2 hrs. Lubed chain, added oils, fuel, oiled the filter, ran for a bit to get a good break in on the engine, changed the stock c.d.i. module to the unlimited rev CDI, then time to hit the track. First lap was a little slow, she was getting the feel, as soon as she had her second lap down she started pushing it a little. First thing I noticed is the front end of the quad didn't push at all, even on a hard packed slick surface. The front was hooking up better than I could ever imagine, considering the wide stance in the front. Next thing I noticed, she was jumping it on her second lap and starting to get more air than she ever did on her TRX. She took a few stops to tell me how good the quad
felt. The only concern that I had on the first test run is the rear tires needed to be upgraded to a lower profile (they were not to dangerous, but we wanted the backend a little lower to the ground). Not a problem the rear uses the 4 on 110 and the front end uses a 4 on 145 bolt
pattern(300/400ex setup that can be found anywhere) we had the 18inch snow hog rear tires
and aluminum rims for front and rear sitting in the garage that was changed out as soon as we got home.
Second test run was the dads drag race. lined up with a predator with an aftermarket pipe and a few light mods. out of the hole, the quads were very close, until they started to rev, the DRX kept going and pulled with quite a lead.

Next test run was practice at the race on 11-6-06 .
First thing that was noticed...she is a lot faster, and this is a track that she has not had her
quad on before this first lap (this observation was from not just dad, but all the parents). Next I noticed the kids were having trouble over the braking bumps, all accept Erin. I had a few people tell me that this is a great quad that is very dependable, but they also said "change the stock shocks out" I disagree -this quad took the braking bumps like it was set up for her from the factory.
As soon as the races began, Erin showed us how good this quad was, pulling the holeshot and walking away with it running against mod 4 strokes, predator 90's and an apex. WE had
compliments on Erin's riding and the quad all day.
Good: Dual A-arms, front and rear disc brakes, killer front tires, high quality assembly from
factory (using high end materials), strong engine and awesome handling (due to the correct
amount of castor and camber in the front spindles, which is commonly overlooked by mini quad manufacturers .

Bad: nothing. This quad is awesome right out of the crate. I have been an auto technician for 12 years, and part time on bikes for the last 10 years, so I have a good knowledge on the way bikes and quads are supposed to be built, and this one is done right the first time.

Things we would change: aluminum wheels to save weight and because they made it look
really sharp. Remove the floorboards and add nerf bars, not for any reason at all, just to add to the looks, the floorboards are completely sufficient. By removing them, and adding the nerf bars it would really bring out the "Racer look", and add an aftermarket air filter for better air flow.

Do we recommend this quad? Absolutely, you can not get a better bang for your buck than a drr DRX 90. We looked at other quads, and almost every shop we talked to, directed us to go with the DRX 90. I will be honest there was another factor, the DRX 90 is priced over 1,000 lower than their competition. With this info and the info I gathered from the dealers and local racers, led us to DRR.

There are already 3 parents at our races who are thinking of selling their new quads and going with the DRX 90 after seeing what a difference it has made in one rider.
